Lions Repeat Support for Vital Kids Count Project

Battle and Villages Lions Club agreed at their September Business meeting to donate a further £500 to the local charity “Kids Count”, following an updating report on the success the charity has in giving aid to needy members of the younger generation with new children. Already this year this charity has given 26 bundles of babies essentials to new mothers whose needs have been drawn to their attention in the Lions club area. This brings the total donated by Battle and Villages Lions to this charity this year to £1000.

Lion President Bob Eaves is determined in his year in office, to try to focus a greater amount of their help and service on the younger members of the community. Whilst the club is well known for its support for international good causes and the elderly, he considers the needs of the younger community is often overlooked, and is conscious that in our district the financial constraints on the younger generation are often overlooked by service organisations. This charity, which is also supported by several adjoining Lions clubs, is filling a void in community aid and service which is not supported elsewhere nor by state and local authority services. It also fulfils the Lions clubs aims of focussing a greater level of proven service and support to the immediate local community.

Yes, Lions do need more members. Yes, Lions do raise a lot of money for good causes. Yes, Lions do have fun. Yes, you could join us and have a lot of fun doing something really worthwhile, giving service to the community. We are small (but perfectly formed), friendly (most of and time), and need (really need!!) your support. Why not join and have a whale of a time!! Come and meet us on the first Tuesday of each month at 8pm at The Royal Oak Public House at Whatlington.
